Advent to U,S.

Conrad and Henry came to U.S. in June 1852 and Grandfather H. came in fall of 1852.

Samuel Hoffman, Grandfather.
Born in Twp, of Werdenberg, Canton of St. Gall, Switzerland in 1796.
Trade- printing embroidery. Came to U.S. in 1852. Located at Davenport,
Ia, where he farmed. Married Anna Spitz about 1825, He died In 1872 and
she in 1873,

John Hoffman, Father.

Born on August 31, 1941 at Werdonberg, Canton of St, Gall, Switzerland,
Came to U. S. in 1852. Lived the while in Davenport, Ia.
Enlisted in Co. A, 14th Regt. Iowa Infantry Volunteers, Regt was of
l6th, Army Corps of Army of Tennessee, Joined Dec, 16, 1862 and mustered
out in November 1864. Member of John A. Logan Post No. 56 G.A.R. at Denison, Ia.,
Married Katherine Dussel April 13, 1867. Farmed near Maquoketa, Jackson Co.

Ia. Then in Crawford Co, near Ricketts, Ia, until retired in 1902.
Lived in Ricketts until 1907 when he moved to Denison where now resides.
(Died Sept. 1926.)

Andrew Dussel, Grandfather.
Born about 1827, in Switzerland, Werdenberg, Canton St. Gall,
Married Agatha Slagle after courting Kathrine Hoffman.
Came to U. S. in 1852 to Davenport.
Both died of Cholera at Davenport in 1852.

Issue of Andrew and Agatha Dussel,
Baby girl, and Andrew and Kathrine.

Kathrine Dussel Hoffman, Mother,
Born on March 12, 1850 at Werdenberg, Canton of St, Gall, Switzerland.
Came to U.S. in 1852.  Married John Hoffman April 13, 1867 at DeWitt, Ia.
